Peace Day

What is peace?
Peace is freedom from disturbance, quiet and tranquility, freedom from of the cessation. Peace is when people are able to resolve their problems without violence. Peace is when everyone live in safety. Peace is when everyone is equal before the law. Peace is when everyone has their basic needs. Peace is when everyone work together to increase their quality of life. But peace can only last when human rights are respected, when people are fed, when individuals and nations are free.

How to achieve peace?
A lot of people think that there's no way human can achieve peace in the world. It's not true. We can achieve peace. It's possible.
There's a theory about peace. It's called Five Freedoms.

So, first of all, please look at your hand. We all have five fingers. They are all different, but they can work together to do things. And the first of the five fingers we called thumb. It's the most different looking finger. It's strong. It represent freedom of speech, the idea that stands out, that stands up to dishonesty and corruption.

Next, look at your index finger. We usually use this finger to point things. It gives us direction. It represent freedom of religion. Each of us is free to choose our own direction, with or without God.

Third is the middle finger. It's the longest finger of all. It represent the freedom from want, the long road of existence, and the certainty that there will be food, water, shelter, education, and health care for everyone of us no matter where we are on that road.

Fourth is the marriage ring finger, a finger with a direct link to our nervous system. It represent the freedom of environment.

Finally, the fifth finger. Our 'little finger'. It's the shortest and the smallest than the rest (for most people). It represent the freedom from fear.

As you take a look at your hand and count the Five Freedoms, you have to remember that you didn't ask for five fingers from God. That means you didn't ask Five Freedoms. It's a gift from God, you were born with them. That's why it's possible to achieve peace.

Book Review : Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief

Percy Jackson is just a normal twelve year old boy. Sure he's got problems with school, bullies, and authority but at that age who doesn't?  Getting kicked out of school after school does have a way of making one think he's a screw up though.  One day though on a seemingly innocent visit to the beach with his mother Percy's life changes forever.  Finding out his best friends is a satyr and being chased by the Minotaur into a camp for demigods is only the beginning of Percy Jackson's new life.  Here he makes friends with children of similar parentage and finally finds himself a place where he belongs.

Peace can only last for so long though once it is discovered which god has fathered Percy.  Monstrous attacks begin and Percy is sent on a quest to retrieve Zeus's stolen master bolt (the lightening bolt from which all other bolts are made) and return it before the summer solstice to stop an all out war between the gods.  Along the way is more adventure than one boy can handle danger at every turn, and new heights of treachery.
An absolutely fantastic tale marvelously woven by the author Rick Riordan.  As a book written for young adults I didn't expect it to be as fun and engaging for an actual adult as it was.  Move over Harry Potter because Percy Jackson could kick your butt.  Smart mouthed, practical and fun Percy doesn't go looking for trouble but he was born a hero, a combination of mortal and god parentage that he can not control.  In a world where hero’s are sent on quests all the time and spent their lives training Percy is a rare breath of fresh air.

Gamarvani

Gamarvani is a West Java culture festival of SMAN 3 Bandung. It's held on 19th September, 2015, at Bali Street field. This is the second culture festival of SMAN 3 Bandung (the first being Matswapati) after 7 years of vacuum.

Gamarvani was opened at 10 PM, with an opening ceremony by our headmaster, Mr. Encang Iskandar.

There's a lot cultural show that everyone could enjoy, such as Wayang Golek Giriharja, RMHR, Manggala Awi, Sasadana, etc. And there're show from our school too, such as KPA 3 (Keluarga Paduan Angklung 3), LSS (Lingkungan Seni Sunda), MK3 (Musik Klasik 3), Band 3, KV3 (Kelompok Vokal 3), T'sT (Tiloe's Theatre). In this festival, T'sT performed a cabaret about the storyline of Gamarvani, Nyi Anteh. They have performed a magnificent show about Indonesian culture. And there's band from outer school, such as Parahyena, arumbAcoustic, and many more. And the main guests for this year are Adera and HiVi!. Adera performed his songs and did a cover of Bang Bang. And HiVi! performed their top songs, Heartbeat, Siapkah Kau Tuk Jatuh Cinta, Indahnya Dirimu, Orang Ketiga, Curi Curi and Mata ke Hati for the last song and the wrap of Gamarvani.

Tur Budaya 32016

So, on 20th of April, me and all of the 11th grader went to Bali. First, all of us went to Station Hall and then we waited for about 2 hours. In the station, we were given a TurBud shirt, and other stuff. After that, we went to Surabaya. It was a really fun time with our class.

Then, on the next evening, we arrived at the harbour to take a ferri to sail across to Bali. And then, we rode a bus to the hotel and rest for the day.

On the first day in Bali, we went to Tanjung Benoa. It was really fun in there. I played flying fish where me and my friend sit in a rubber boat and the rubber boat was being pulled really fast by a motor boat untul the rubber boat fly! It was really fun, I had a really good time there. After Tanjung Benoa, we went to Pandawa Beach.

In the evening, we went to Garuda Wisnu Kencana. We watched Tari Kecak, it was really great!

For the night, we had a dinner in Jimbaran. The food was really great! And after we had eaten, we were given a lantern for each class, and then we flew it.

The next day, we went to Penglipuran Village, a traditional village in Bali. It was a really nice place, and have a calm atmosphere around it, And we played games there.

After that, we went to Kintamani, where we were served with a lot of foods! It was a really great place and the food is really great too!

At night, we went to SMAN 3's "Malam Keakraban", where we watched Tiloe's Theatre's performance, and other club's performance too. And we watched our 32016's film, "Fase". In this video, we watched how we grow from 10th grader to 11th grader, what we have been through, etc. And for the finale, the neon party! It's really great.

The next day, we went to Kuta Beach. We played for a while in there, and then we went to Krishna to buy some souvenir.

And then, we went back to Gilimanuk Harbour and we went home.

Song Review : Green Day - Wake Me Up When September Ends

"Wake Me Up When September Ends" is a song by American rock band Green Day, released on June 13, 2005 as the fourth single from the group's seventh studio album, American Idiot (2004). The song was written by frontman Billie Joe Armstrong regarding the death of his father. The song's music video depicts a couple broken apart by the Iraq War, which was intended to convey the song's central theme of loss.

Lyrics:

Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
Wake me up when September ends

Like my father's come to pass
Seven years has gone so fast
Wake me up when September ends

Here comes the rain again
Falling from the stars
Drenched in my pain again
Becoming who we are

As my memory rests
But never forgets what I lost
Wake me up when September ends

Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
Wake me up when September ends

Ring out the bells again
Like we did when spring began
Wake me up when September ends

Here comes the rain again
Falling from the stars
Drenched in my pain again
Becoming who we are

As my memory rests
But never forgets what I lost
Wake me up when September ends

Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
Wake me up when September ends

Like my father's come to pass
Twenty years has gone so fast
Wake me up when September ends
Wake me up when September ends
Wake me up when September ends

"Wake Me Up When September Ends" was written by Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong about his father, who died of cancer when he was ten. Armstrong at one point dubbed the song the most autobiographical he had written to that point, considering it "therapeutic" but also difficult to perform.
Movie Review:
Ender's Game

Ender's Game is a 2013 American science fiction action film based on the novel of the same name by Orson Scott Card. Written and directed by Gavin Hood, the film stars Asa Butterfield as Andrew "Ender" Wiggin, an unusually gifted child who is sent to an advanced military academy in outer space to prepare for a future alien invasion. The supporting cast includes Harrison Ford, Hailee Steinfeld, Viola Davis, Abigail Breslin, and Ben Kingsley.

This film was released in Germany on October 24, 2013, followed by a release in the United Kingdom and Ireland one day later. It was released in the United States, Canada, and several other countries on November 1, 2013, and was released in other territories by January 2014.

Plot

The Earth was ravaged by the Formics, an alien race seemingly determined to destroy humanity. Seventy years later, the people of Earth remain banded together to prevent their own annihilation from this technologically superior alien species. Ender Wiggin, a quiet but brilliant boy, may become the savior of the human race. He is separated from his beloved sister and his terrifying brother and brought to battle school in orbit around earth. He will be tested and honed into an empathetic killer who begins to despise what he does as he learns to fight in hopes of saving Earth and his family.

Box Office

Ender's Game was the number 1 film in North America during its opening weekend, earning $27,017,351 from 3,407 theaters with an average of $7,930 per theater. The film ultimately grossed $61,737,191 domestically and $63,800,000 internationally, for a worldwide gross of $125,537,191, slightly above its $110 million production budget. Varietymagazine listed Ender's Game as one of "Hollywood's biggest box office bombs of 2013" when it had made $87 million.

Review

Ender's Game is a spectacular film and true to the Orson Scott Card's book of the same name. Asa Butterfield gives a really great performance as Ender, with a moral complexity of a genius boy who is called to save his world despite his uncertainty in what he is being asked to do. For me, it's a really great movie, where the moral of the movie is do not easily give up when you have a problem, there's always a way to solve it.
